11 people including two Congolese women are behind bars in Dowa for allegedly committing various offences. Nine are Malawian men.
Dowa Police spokesperson Alice Sitima says this follows a special operation detective officers conducted at Chezi, Imfayatonse, Dzaleka and Dowa Turn-off trading centers.
In the process, the officers busted two Congolese women, aged 22 and 20, for being found with five bags of loose cannabis and 1270 twists of the crop.
“The officers went on to arrest 9 others for selling liquor and gas(fuel), buying farm produce, operating bar and pesticides businesses all without licences,” explains Sitima.
The suspects, aged between 20 and 39, will appear in court soon to answer applicable charges.
