The Lilongwe Chief Resident Magistrate Madalitso Chimwaza has adjourned an extradition case involving Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife, Mary to 20th July, 2023.
In a written adjournment notice, Chimwaza says she is outside the country; hence all parties should appear before court on 20th July, 2023 to know about new dates for hearing.
On 30th May 2023, defense lawyer Wapona Kita pleaded to the court to dismiss the case since South Africa failed to bring key witnesses for cross-examination.
Then, Chimwaza had advised the defense to make a formal application on its request.
The Bushiris, who fled the rainbow nation in November 2020, are wanted by South African authorities on allegations of fraud and money laundering.
