Karonga Shalom Embassy Church on Sunday donated a cow worth K300,000.00 to Karonga Prison.
Speaking when he presented the donation, Apostle Rabson Chiona of Karonga Shalom Embassy Church said the presentation was made as one way of assisting the needy such as inmates besides promoting the Gospel.
He further said the church has been donating items to the prison since 2017 and the donation of the cow was to fulfill the 2021 pledge which the church made during its last visit.
He added that prison is not a place for punishing people but rather to transform and promote mindset change in convicts so that they become reliable citizens after serving their sentences.
Karonga Prison Chaplain, Inspector Macdonald Matope commended Shalom Embassy Church for the donation saying it will go a long way in reducing the food shortage challenges which the prison is currently facing.
Traditional Authority Kalonga who was also present during the presentation of the donation thanked the church for the gesture and appealed to other religious congregations to emulate the spirit of giving as demonstrated by the church.
