A grouping under the banner, Concerned Citizens have postponed their planned protests against the Chakwera administration in solidarity with those affected by the Cyclone Freddy.

A symbolic presentation of donation

The demostrations were initially slated for March 20, 2023. The organizers have insisted that President Lazarus Chakwera and his vice, Dr. Saulos Chilima have failed to manage state affairs and fulfill most campaign promises.

But leader of the grouping, Bon Kalindo says they are hugely concerned with the cyclone impact. The grouping has since donated K500 000 to cyclone victims currently in camps in Blantyre.

“It cannot be good to shut the country with the demonstrations while the other part is struggling,” says Kalindo.

Meanwhile, Blantyre City Soche East Ward Councillor, Leonard Chimbanga has since called for more support for his people. He stresses a lot of the victims do not have food and shelter among others.
