Police in Ntchisi are keeping in custody a 37-year-old Thomson Chikhosi of Chiweza village, Traditional Authority Kalumo, for allegedly killing his biological mother.

Confirming the case, Public Relations Officer for Ntchisi police, Constable Glory Kondowe told us that the deceased had left home on the early hours of Wednesday for her maize garden to harvest.

“She was later found by locals lying in a pool of blood and postmortem results from Ntchisi District Hospital revealed that death was caused by severe loss of blood due to a fractured skull,” said Kondowe.

He added that the suspect was later found by police investigators at his home with blood on his shoes and shirt.

Motive behind the killing is yet to be established as police investigations are underway, and it is yet to be established if the suspect is competent enough to stand court trial because he is a well known epileptic patient according to Kondowe.

“We cannot yet confirm, with his condition, if he is stable enough to stand trial or to be referred to Zomba mental hospital,” she said.
