Ministry of Agriculture has announced minimum farm gate prices to be effected in this 2022/23 farming season.

According to the press release by the ministry signed by its Secretary, Dickie Kampani, the prices are with immediate effect and all agro-dealers and agro-processors and others who deal with commodities are requested to buy the stated commodities at prices not less than those stipulated in the press release.

Under the released farm gate prices, maize will be sold at a minimum price of K500 per Kg, Soya beans at K800, Pure beans at K700, Mixed beans at K600, polished rice at K1000, unpolished rice at K500 and shelled groundnuts at K900.

Farmers will also be parting ways with their paprika at a minimum price of K1040 per Kg, cotton at K580, Chillies at K1730, sunflower at K500, pigeon peas at K550 and sorgum at K400.

The statement further says anyone willing to buy agricultural produce should acquire a license through their respective District Councils, Agriculture Development Division ( ADD) and the Director of Crop Development at Ministry of Agriculture Headquarters.
