MINISTER URGES GRADUATES TO BE CREATIVE AND PROBLEM SOLVERS

Minister of Education Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima has urged 2023 University of Malawi graduates to be creative and responsible citizens by applying skills they have attained during their learning period.

Wirima made the remarks when she presided over the university of Malawi (UNIMA) Graduation on Wednesday in Zomba.

“Many times we have had graduates, after they have finished their education, stay years without being employed. As such I urge you to work hard and become innovative and use research in order to create job opportunities in your industries” she added.

Wirima also appealed to the graduates to apply ethics and refrain from corruption.

In his speech Vice Chancellor of the University of Malawi Samson Sajidu advised the outgoing students to contribute to the development of Malawi.

“The expectation is that you should be major contributors to the pillars of Malawi 2063 vision because as a university the main issue in Malawi 2063 agenda, is capacity development, we are building human resource in agriculture, industries, law and science among others,” He said.

A total of 2474 graduates were awarded Diplomas, Degrees, Masters and PhDs in various academic disciplines
