The Malawi Investment and Trade Centre (MITC) will from tomorrow April 5 to April 6 hold a 2023 Malawi Exporters Awards ( MEA) at Bingu International Convention Centre ( BICC ) in Lilongwe.
Speaking in an interview with Teamplus TV, MITC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Paul Kwengwere said this year’s MEA is the epitome of such an endeavour, where they are going to celebrate the best performers in the export business.
He said he believes that that the event will motivate both the awardees to work harder and export more.
He said to ease the event’s preparations, MITC has received numerous support in form of sponsorship from different partners, with Eco bank being the main sponsor.
“Ecobank Malawi is Malawi Exporters Awards Platnum Headline Sponsor.
“The bank has sponsored M30,000,000.00 towards Malawi Exporters Awards (MEA) 2023.
“The sponsorship presentation took place on April 28, 2023 in Blantyre, he said.
Kwengwere urged various stakeholders to attend the event.
“Join us as we celebrate the contributions and achievements of outstanding businesses in Malawi.
“Don’t miss your chance to be part of an exclusive audience to celebrate the hard work and contributions of our exporters to the national economy,” he urged.
According to Kwengwere, MEA 2023 goes beyond winning trophies and citations as it is aimed at building a community of Malawian exporters who can support one another , share thought leadership and best pracctices.
MITC is a parastatal organization established by an Act of Parliament, the Investment and Export Promotion Act.
Its mandate is to carry out investment promotion and facilitation as well as export promotion in Malawi
The organization identifies, develops and packages investment and trade opportunities in Malawi; brands and markets Malawi as an investment and trade destination; retains and expands trade and export opportunities for Malawi.
