Police in Chiradzulu have arrested a 28-year-old man, Charles Chitosi on suspicion that he is connected to a series of burglary and breakings that occurred in the district since November this year.

Public Relations Officer for Chiradzulu Police, Cosmas Kagulo has confirmed the arrest saying Chitosi was arrested following intelligence-driven investigations that Chiradzulu Police carried out during the festive season.

“Upon interrogations, the suspect admitted to having broken into several houses in the area and went away with different items worth K1.2 million,” said Kagulo.

He added that the suspect also led the detectives to locations where assorted stolen items including a mattress, duvet, carpet, two bedsheets, blanket, plasma screen, laptop, and a smartphone were recovered.

Kagulo said the suspect will appear before court to answer charges of burglary and theft after completion of investigations.
