Chifundo Matchuka, 36, and her two sons, Collins; two years old and Cathbel; one-month old have been injured after a rolling stone landed on their house roof and destroyed property therein.
The mother, who sustained serious injuries, is currently admitted at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre, while the two sons escaped with minor injuries.
Chifundo’s husband, Ekison Matchuka told Malawi News Agency (MANA) that the incident happened on Tuesday around 1pm when his wife and his two sons were sleeping in the bedroom.
“A big rock rolled from Mdala Hills and hit a roof of our house which in turn injured my family. I think the stone rolled due to soil moisture after some rains,” said Matchuka.
Chileka Police Station Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Jonathan Phillipo confirmed the incident and promised further investigation into the matter.
