TANZANIA DONATES TOWARDS CYCLONE FREDDY RESPONSE

The Tanzanian Government on Saturday donated assorted relief items to Malawi Government in response to the Tropical Cyclone Freddy which has affected 13 districts in the Southern Region of Malawi.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nancy Tembo officially received the donation on behalf of the Malawi Government from Tanzanian High Commissioner to Malawi, Humphrey Polepole who presented the items on behalf of the Tanzanian Government at Chichiri MDF camp in Blantyre.

The items include 6,000 blankets, 195 tonnes of maize flour, 31 family tents, medical supplies and 59 field combat engineers.

This is the second consignment that Tanzania has assisted Malawi to respond to the cyclone.

In the first consignment, Tanzanian assisted Malawi with two helicopters to assist people in the hard to reach areas.
